Egg-Mecha (#3)

This is a mechanical egg, there is no reason, sorry. I like the look of steampunk/clockwork gears and the egg is such a great symbol of life and health. White print on two shirts, one red and one this color purple, the edges of the design are slightly brighter than the center due to the way the ink is pressed in.

Its kind of ironic that this post is today, I went and saw Ironman this morning, Fantastic, Amazing, wait till after the credits. The Dude is in it! (the movie, not the credits)

Battlecruiser Operational (#2)

This is the Terran Battlecruiser from Starcraft 2, one of my buddies wanted it on a shirt so I created a two part design with the body being white and the overlay detail in black, the print in the photo is on a kensington laptop bag and is purposefully worn looking, simply by not applying enough ink. Not to mention the texture of the bag lends itself to that style. In addition to the bag it was printed on 3 shirts. alignment of the two plates was a minor issue as I had no way of mechanically aligning the plate. I may work on that system next.

Robot-Radio (First shirt)

Robot-Radio
An unknown robot sending out little signals, I don't know why, but he's cute! The odd looking black image is the color separation for the printing. Shown in the top image is 4 of the 8 shirts made (along with one pair of sophie shorts.)

Unfortunately there's no background for this character, I think he is just an amalgamation of everything a cute robot should be, he's fat, he floats, has no pointy bits, and probably makes dee-dee-de-dee-dee noises as it goes about it's business.

The shirts used for this were bought from goodwill for $2 a piece and the sophies were a pair my girlfriend already had. The ink was bought for this project so I will include it in the cost at $7 per color, and the screen was $25 for more than I will likely ever use. Frame and other tools were homemade and thus free!

$16-shirts
$14- inks
$25- screens
$0- tools
$55 total for 8 shirts= $6.88 a shirt not too shabby

ShirtDay Welcome

This is the summer project of Windham Graves (me!).
I will produce and print a new shirt every weekday for the rest of summer.

Rules:
1. Two color max.
2. 8.5 x 11 max total art size.
3. Less than 5 characters.
4. No hurtful content.
5. Must include illustration.
6. Must be screen printed at least once.
7. No new clothing.
8. Screen will be destroyed immediately.
9. Shirt will be posted the morning after it is made (hopefully once a day!)

Rules 3&5 are due to my love of typography and are intended to keep me away from it. Rules 1,2 & 4 are just self imposed rules that make these shirts more realistic (in a printing sense).

I will post an About Me as soon as I get around to it.
